Arranging a Funeral

Arranging a Funeral in Newcastle

What To Do When Death Occurs

When a death occurs in the home, a doctor needs to be contacted to conclude the cause of death and issue a death certificate. If the death is sudden or accidental, a coroner may be contacted, and a post-mortem examination may be required. Once the cause of death is confirmed, and a certificate issued, we work with you to arrange a convenient time for transportation to the funeral home. When a death occurs in a hospital or care facility, our team works with the facility to arrange transfer to the funeral home.

From the very beginning, we must be informed of the person’s preference for burial or cremation, whether family and friends wish to spend time with the deceased before the transfer, as well as the contact details of the funeral organiser.

Coffin & Casket Options

The next step is to choose between a coffin or a casket, which is purely a personal preference. A coffin is more traditionally shaped with a tapered head, shoulder and foot end. Coffins are made of a variety of materials, including custom wood, timber veneer, composite materials or solid timber. Much larger than a coffin, a casket is rectangular in shape and usually hinged on one side with lining in the lid. We have a large range of both coffins and caskets which can be customised to suit your wishes.
